Food safety bill set for House vote

The House of Representatives is expected to vote today on legislation that would give the Food and Drug Administration more power to enforce food safety, though Senate action is not expected until the fall. The bill allows the FDA to order food recalls, conduct more inspections and demand better record-keeping, and requires facilities to pay a $500 annual fee.
