French pilot recreates first flight across English Channel

French pilot Edmond Salis recreated the first flight across the English Channel on the 100-year anniversary of the historic milestone. On July 25, 1909, pilot Louis Bleriot flew his Bleriot XI from Sangatte, France, to Dover, England. Salis recreated the flight with an identical cloth and wood monoplane, but landed at the Duke of York's Royal Military School instead of crash-landing nearby as Bleriot did.
