New test measures students' abilities, progress

The school board in a Kentucky district has approved a testing program called Measures of Academic Progress that assesses students' skills and tracks their progress instead of measuring knowledge in only a particular content area. "MAP tells you this kid is ready to factor equations, this kid is ready to read 'Beowulf,' this kid is ready to write a personal narrative," said an administrator.
