AVMA cautions against federal ban on judicious use of animal antibiotics

At a recent hearing in Congress, AVMA reiterated its position that banning the judicious use of antibiotics in livestock could have widespread effects on human and animal health. "We encourage a regulatory strategy that is based on science, risk-and-benefit analysis, risk management that is commensurate with the level of risk, and cooperation with all relevant stakeholders," said AVMA's Christine Hoang.
