Credit-derivatives group works to simplify the novation procedure

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association is developing a simplified, electronic procedure for novation, a transaction that takes place when counterparties in a credit default swap are changed. The procedure will replace a two-step process that requires the acceptance of a substitution, followed by confirmation of the terms of the trade.
