Heavy construction spending expected to decline

Spending on heavy construction has fallen from a year ago, and the market is expected to dip lower over the coming 12 months, writes Jim Haughey. Shipments of heavy equipment have risen, largely due to exports, but short-term indicators such as federal stimulus funding or local government appropriations are on the decline, he notes.
