REITs are not likely to be affected that much by financial reform:

Questions still circulate about the impact the financial overhaul will have on the real estate community. Much will depend on how the regulations will be written -- a process that could take a few years, says Robert T. O'Brien, leader of the U.S. real estate practice and vice chairman at Deloitte. Still, some rough guidelines are becoming clear: Banks, private equity and hedge funds can expect to see major changes, while REITs will be less affected.
