Report: Health IT is not a panacea for building efficient model of care

Health IT may help boost the quality, efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness of care delivery, but it is not a cure-all for creating an efficient patient-centered medical home model, a federal report found. The stimulus funds and health reform law are necessary, but "not enough to support adoption and meaningful use of EHRs, let alon[e] the broader transformation in care delivery needed to build PCMH," the report noted.
