Amazon and Facebook have launched a partnership that allows users to see product recommendations based on their friends' purchases and their own tastes. That's a big deal, writes Kim-Mai Cutler, since it could potentially allow consumers to bypass Google's search services and allow Facebook to corner their dollars and their valuable consumer data. That could allow Facebook to finally quantify the value of a social recommendation, paving the way for lucrative ad deals and promotions with other brands.
