Los Angeles moves toward privatizing zoo

A committee of the Los Angeles City Council approved a money-saving measure Thursday to privatize the Los Angeles Zoo, and the full council is slated to vote on the proposal next month. The committee also requested city analysts study an alternative approach to privatization to see whether costs could be cut enough to keep the zoo under the city's purview.
