Youths made up one-third of heat-related ED visits last decade

Data published in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report indicate that one-third of emergency department visits due to heat illnesses linked to sports or recreational activities over the last decade involved youths ages 15 to 19, and 75% of all cases were males. Football and exercise were the two most common causes of heat-related ED visits, according to the data.
