Games for mobile devices are a continuing challenge for the console-based game industry, and now Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony are facing the new wave of microconsoles produced by a number of companies, Tadhg Kelly writes. "Microconsoles can iterate on hardware quickly, like phone makers, where Sony is stuck with a fixed spec for the next seven years with PS4," he notes, adding, "The future that I see for console gaming is one where hardware incrementally cedes power to software."
