EA exec: Why we use 2 basic game engines

Scott Cronce, vice president of technology at Electronic Arts, explains why his company has focused on having developers use two basic game engines, Frostbite and Ignite, for its line of video games. "You make sure that's where you put your engineering dollars," he said in this interview. "Depending on what that is, it may be a branch from that engine specifically for a genre of games. Or it may be something that will fold back into the main engine so everybody can benefit from that feature."
