Guest: Real estate investors should move up the risk curve

Today's high-priced core properties in central business districts may not provide competitive yields relative to some fixed-income investments as interest rates rise, says Paul Guest, regional head of research and strategy at LaSalle Investment Management. To help ensure their yields stay ahead of rising rates, Guest recommends direct real estate investors focus their attention on the value-added property segment, especially in Asia.
