Interventionalists must keep an eye on radiation safety, SCAI doc argues

Annual medical imaging doses have grown substantially in the past several decades, casting a spotlight on the efforts of interventional cardiologists to manage doses in the cath lab, writes SCAI President-elect Dr. Charles E. Chambers. The fundamentals of any safety program are to achieve exposures that are "as low as reasonably achievable" and to ensure that each instance of exposure is of potential benefit to the patient, he writes, discussing the key aspects of safety programs.
