The Obama administration will weigh arguments on whether to reject a U.S. International Trade Commission's June ruling that would bar the sale of some older Apple iPhone and iPad models. The ITC ruled in June that Apple's technology infringed on a Samsung Electronics patent, but antitrust officials and industry lobbyists are weighing in because U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman can reverse the decision by Aug. 4. Also, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has turned down 21 claims from a proposed Apple "pinch-to-zoom" patent, Samsung disclosed in federal court papers. Apple has until September to respond to the ruling.
