Study finds most math teachers want more PD for common core

Many middle-school math teachers report being excited about aspects of the Common Core State Standards, saying the standards are more rigorous than their state's previous standards, according to a recent survey. Many of the 403 math teachers surveyed told researchers they need more professional development to properly implement the common core. Most teachers also agree that drill and practice, hands-on activities and the understanding of concepts are essential for math learning.
