Wis. school brings fitness, healthy eating to summer program

A two-week summer program for students at Great Lakes Elementary School in Wisconsin featured instruction in both fitness and academics, with fourth- and fifth-grade students learning to cook healthy meals in class and set fitness goals. For instance, students rode bicycles 3.5 miles to a city park for a field trip during the program and made veggie pizza as well as pancakes with blueberry syrup.
