Work on 5-mile tunnel to carry water beneath San Francisco continues

Work on a project designed to carry water through a five-mile long passageway from Menlo Park to Newark in California continues. Construction of the tunnel underneath San Francisco Bay is part of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's $4.6 billion program to overhaul the city's entire water-delivery system. The $286 million tunnel is slated to be finished by next summer.
