Vermont bridge project set to commence

Although a good deal of work is already underway, construction on the 3,600-foot-long Missisquoi Bay Bridge in Vermont officially will kick off Monday. In addition to the engineering obstacles inherent in any bridge project, the main contractor, Cianbro Corp. of Pittsfield, Maine, also faces the challenge of not disturbing the spiny, soft-shelled turtles found in the surrounding bay.
