Dow partnership researches ways to make plastic out of biomass

Dow Chemical and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory have formed a partnership to research ways to make plastic out of biomass, such as corn husks, wood or chicken droppings. Soaring fuel prices have hurt the chemical industry, which is heavily reliant on oil. Kevin Swift, chief economist for the American Chemistry Council, said even consumers are feeling it.
