Illinois governor urges lawmakers to fund bridge repairs

The governor of Illinois has urged lawmakers to pass a capital plan to repair infrastructure across the state, including 4,300 bridges deemed deficient by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Illinois ranks sixth in the nation for bridge sufficiency, but 1,500 of the bridges have worse structural ratings than the Minnesota bridge that collapsed last year.
