Task force urges countries to adopt biotech crops to fight hunger

The international community must adopt a more accepting attitude toward biotech crops because they can help countries experiencing food shortages, said Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., who co-chairs a task force for the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The group also recommended that the U.S. increase its emergency food aid to $3.2 billion per year and intensify efforts to boost farm productivity worldwide.
