FTC delays compliance deadline for program to prevent ID theft

The Red Flags Rules, a program from the Federal Trade Commission to prevent identity theft, was scheduled to take effect Saturday but has been postponed until Nov. 1. The compliance deadline is "being extended because some entities are still not sure whether they're covered or not," said FTC representative Frank Dorman. Banks, health care providers and other businesses will need to comply with the program by the deadline.
