Study examines environmental impact of California stadium plan

Most of the significant effects that a new football stadium planned for Santa Clara, Calif., could have on the environment can be alleviated, according to a draft of a recent environmental report. The report found that traffic from the stadium would present a problem only when games are played during the week. However, noise from the stadium would affect neighborhoods on the weekends. The study also considered whether the stadium's roof, which will be equipped with solar panels, could interfere with planes using the San Jose airport.
