Film director Danny Boyle spent two years with a team of designers, effects experts and writers to develop the opening ceremony to the London Olympic Games. Frank Cottrell Boyce credits Boyle with enabling a space "where no one was afraid to speak, no one had to stick to their own specialism, no one was afraid of sounding stupid" and where colleagues had the freedom to explore crazy-sounding ideas. "He restored us to the people we were before we made career choices -- to when we were just wondering," Boyce says.
