Neb. lawmakers will debate rights for same-sex couples

Nebraska state Sen. Brad Ashford will hold a hearing in October to discuss legal hurdles faced by same-sex couples in the state. The debate could lead to legislation that would establish civil unions, but Ashford believes that voters wouldn't support overturning a state law that bans marriage for same-sex couples.
