T-Mobile US confirmed it has begun testing 4G networks that operate on broader 10 MHz channels with an eye on bringing the speedier wireless service to many of the 25 top markets this year. The carrier was trying out the 2 x 10 MHz channels in parts of New York City. Chief Technical Officer Neville Ray has said T-Mobile will provide average speeds of 10 to 20 megabits per second in its upgraded 4G networks. In a Twitter post, CEO John Legere boasted of topping out at 60 Mbps downstream in one test.
