Pa. outreach effort takes on familial hypercholesterolemia

Lancaster General Health and the University of Pennsylvania are conducting outreach programs to find and treat people, especially those of Pennsylvania Dutch or Amish heritage, who have familial hypercholesterolemia, which raises the risk of early cardiovascular disease and events. Nurse practitioner Tina Davis at the Preventive Cardiology & Apheresis Clinic said patients who do not get treated can have poor outcomes, even with exercise and healthy diets.
