House votes for minimum wage hike

The U.S. House has voted to raise the minimum wage in Republican-backed legislation tied to a $310 billion tax-cut package. The legislation would raise the federal minimum wage, unchanged from $5.15 an hour since 1997, to $7.25 by June 1, 2009.
