FMI's Hammonds: Trace-back system should be industry responsibility

In testimonies to Congress today, food industry leaders are expected to support stricter safety regulations and call for government agencies to share details of the initial investigation that linked the salmonella outbreak to tomatoes. "It's the government's job here to say that industry needs to develop an effective trace-back system," said FMI President Tim Hammonds, "and then hold the industry accountable without trying to define exactly how it's done."
