Oil speculation bill stalls in House

The anti-speculation bill introduced in the House of Representatives did not garner enough votes to pass with a two-thirds majority. The bill was introduced with no amendments, despite Republican pressure to include an amendment allowing increased off-shore drilling. "This is too vital an issue to the entire economy for anyone to accept inaction," said James May, president and CEO of the Air Transport Associaton.
