Texas-style cornbread doesn't require an oven

Texas cornbread is cooked on the stove top, not in the oven -- a tradition dating back to the days before air-conditioning was around to cool off kitchens. One recipe for this Texas-style cornbread comes from the 1970 cookbook "The Best In American Cooking." The bread is cooked on a 10-inch skillet that is coated with bacon drippings.
