2 House leaders issue outline on derivatives regulation

Proposed legislation backed by the chairmen of two U.S. House committees calls for derivatives to be cleared by central counterparties, except when the requirement is waived by regulators. The measure also pushes for derivatives to be traded on regulated securities exchanges or electronic platforms. The outline came from the chairmen of the House Financial Services and Agriculture committees.
