AHRQ report analyzes hospital emergency department visits

Medicare, Medicaid and other government health insurance plans paid for more than 40% of emergency department visits in 2006, a report from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality found. The report also showed that the uninsured were the most frequent users of hospital EDs and were more likely to be treated and released, rather than admitted.
