Birth control may help women prevent bacterial vaginosis

Women who took oral contraceptives that included estrogen and progestin were 34% less likely to have a recurrence of bacterial vaginosis, a study found. Women taking a progestin-only contraceptive, such as Depo-Provera, were 58% less likely to have another infection.
