Briggs & Stratton CEO announces retirement

John Shiely, chief executive officer of Briggs & Stratton Corp. since 2003, announced plans to retire from the Wisconsin-based manufacturer on Dec. 31. Shiely began with the company as general counsel in 1986. He plans to attend Harvard University Law School once he retires, to become a law professor. Todd Teske, now the chief operating officer and president, is expected to be the next CEO.
