The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act, putting it on track for a vote in both the full House and the Senate after the lawmakers' recess in August. The Cruise Lines International Association, which supports the legislation, said the industry already follows the bulk of the bill's initiatives. "Millions of passengers each year enjoy a safe cruise vacation, and while serious incidents are rare, even one incident is one too many," CLIA said. "As an industry, we are fully committed to the safety and security of our passengers and crew."
