IRS holds public forums on tax return preparer standards

The Internal Revenue Service held two public forums Thursday in Washington, D.C., in which tax professional groups and consumer, policy and advocacy groups gave feedback on the IRS' plan to introduce a new model for regulating unenrolled return preparers. Michael Dolan, chairman of the AICPA's IRS Practice and Procedures Committee, raised concerns about imposing duplicative regulatory processes on CPAs.
