Media get first glimpse at Marines' F-35B fighter

The Marine Corps gave journalists a chance to see the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter and its ability to hover and land vertically. The event gave the Marine Corps an opportunity to argue for the need to fund the program despite federal fiscal concerns. "We're all concerned about the budget, we're all concerned about what's happening financially in our country," said Gen. James Amos, the commandant of the Marine Corps. "And ... this airplane is more expensive, it's the most expensive variant [of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter]." The Marine Corps says the stealth fighter is worth the expense.
