AgustaWestland will not bid for U.S. presidential helicopter contract

AgustaWestland announced that it will not submit a proposal to build a new Marine One helicopter, but that it believes it could provide "the best, most suitable aircraft for the president." The company attributed its decision to "fundamental proposal evaluation issues that we believe inhibit our ability to submit a competitive offering, and that provide a significant advantage to our likely competitor." According to industry officials, Sikorsky Aircraft is likely to be the only bidder.
