First female superhero hits Pakistani screens

Pakistan now has its first-ever animated action series featuring a female lead that aims to promote education and positive social messages for young boys and girls. "The Burka Avenger" tells the story of school teacher Jiya who transforms into a martial arts master clad in a black burka to fight crime. While most Pakistani’s have thrown their support behind the show, some have questioned the effects of Pakistan’s first female superhero wearing a burka as her crime-fighting disguise.
