Metal "nanowires" encourage strong bonding with bone

Textured, metal oxide "nanowires" embedded on a surface encourage bone cells to grow nearly twice as fast as on other surfaces without that texture, say researchers. Now engineers at Ohio State University have developed a way to economically produce these wires, which could be used in metal implants to help new bone tissue form a durable bond.
