N.J. summer program seeks to boost skills of incoming high-school freshmen

Some students entering high school this fall have been attending the summer Jump Start program at New Jersey's Atlantic County Institute of Technology, which aims to boost key skills, study habits and help students acclimate to the school building. About half of the incoming freshmen class enrolled in the three-week program, which students were invited to attend based on skill levels, eighth-grade state test scores and grades.
