Fresh ackee fruit, found in West African countries and Jamaica, has a slightly sweet, nutty flavor that is useful in a variety of dishes. Many Africans eat the fruit raw, fried in oil or added to soups. In Jamaica, it is often prepared with codfish and vegetables or curried and served with rice.
