San Diego district drops high-school senior presentations

The San Diego Unified School District in California no longer will require high-school seniors to complete an end-of-year presentation as part of the district's graduation requirements. The school board this week eliminated the requirement, effective with the 2014 graduating class. The presentations were eliminated to cut costs and devote more time to the Common Core State Standards, which officials say will cover the same goals of the presentations.
