SEC increases custody rules for broker-dealers

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced a stricter set of rules for protecting clients who hold cash or securities with securities brokers, increasing safeguards and demanding more disclosures from firms. "Investors need to feel confident that their money is safe when it's being held by their broker-dealers," said Mary Jo White, head of the SEC.
