U.S. economy grew strongly in second quarter

The U.S. economy grew at a stronger-than-expected 1.7% annual pace in the second quarter, a result that is expected to provide further impetus for the Federal Reserve to curb its bond-buying program. Separately, strength was also evident in the ADP National Employment Report, with private employers having added 200,000 jobs in July, matching June's gain.
