Company-owned networks may be key to telecom success

Why did SunRocket and Amp'd Mobile fail? It could be because they didn't own their own networks, writes Fortune senior writer Stephanie N. Mehta. Not only does that mean greater costs for the provider, it also creates marketing challenges when trying to persuade customers to go with a provider outside of their traditional sources for voice or broadband services.
