Employees -- not outsiders -- are responsible for most cases of business fraud, which hit small businesses hard, says Comerica Bank's Glenn Lauter. Well-defined policies and procedures can help to stave off fraud, though. Small businesses also should perform background and credit checks on prospective employees, said Lauter's colleague, Paul Orsborn.
